American Studies
Master of ArtsThe M. A. in American Studies is a highly affordable, research-oriented two-year program that allows students to develop an individual academic profile. They may incorporate associated disciplines while also working on practical and academic skills, which will either take them into research or prepare them for various professions outside the university.
This Master’s program consists of four core fields: the core curriculum in American literary and cultural studies, an interdisciplinary profile, academic skills & research, and practice in American Studies and beyond. Within this structure, students will apply the fundamental theoretical framework of American Studies to complete collaborative and independent research projects. Each student also has the opportunity to attend courses at other departments or faculties, thereby creating their own unique academic profile.
Graduates of the program will have gained a profound understanding of American literature, culture, and history from the colonial period to the present. They can critically reflect on and evaluate cultural phenomena and scholarly discourses. Some M. A. graduates qualify for our Ph.D. program. Outside of academia, this M. A. prepares for jobs in public relations, adult education, and intercultural communication and beyond – wherever communicative and intercultural skills, in addition to excellent English, play a crucial role.
